SAFETY IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY

RIDE SMART, RIDE SAFE

At all Chrome for a Cause events your safety comes first. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or joining your first group ride, it's important to respect the road, each other, and the spirit of the Sturgis Rally. Below are key guidelines and expectations to ensure a safe, smooth, and enjoyable ride for everyone.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  1. Ride at Your Skill Level: This is a no-pressure ride. Only participate if you’re confident in your abilities to safely navigate group riding and the route.

  2. Follow the Lead & Sweep Riders: Our trained ride leaders are responsible for pace and safety. Please follow their guidance and positioning at all times.

  3. No Alcohol Before or During the Ride: Save the celebration for after. Anyone found impaired or under the influence will be asked not to ride.

RIDER SAFETY GUIDELINES

  1. Helmet Use: Helmets are strongly recommended for all riders, regardless of local law. Safety starts with protecting your head.

  2. Gear Up: Wear proper riding gear, including eye protection, gloves, long sleeves, and boots. Bright or reflective clothing is a plus.

  3. Stay in Staggered Formation: Maintain a safe staggered formation unless conditions require otherwise. Always allow a minimum two-second following distance.

  4. Use Hand Signals: Communicate lane changes, hazards, and turns using clear hand signals. Ride leaders will also signal upcoming changes.

  5. Fuel Up Before Departure: Start with a full tank to avoid delays. Breaks will be planned, but we recommend being ride-ready at launch.

DRIVER/SUPPORT VEHICLE GUIDELINES

  1. Be Alert and Aware: Always maintain a safe distance from riders and anticipate their movements. Group rides can be unpredictable.

  2. Follow the Convoy Safely: If you are part of a support or media vehicle, maintain a respectful following distance and do not cut between riders.

  3. Yield to the Group: If you're not directly involved in the ride but encounter the group on the road, allow them to pass safely and do not attempt to ride through the formation.

EMERGENCY & CONTACT INFO

  1. In Case of Emergency: Pull over safely and signal for assistance. Medical and road support will be on-hand and clearly marked.

  2. Weather Watch: South Dakota weather can change quickly — be prepared with rain gear and stay tuned to ride leader updates.

Respect the Rally. Respect Each Other.

Sturgis is legendary for a reason. Let’s keep it that way by representing the Chrome for a cause community with respect, responsibility, and unity. When we ride together with safety and purpose, we make the biggest impact.
